Ubergeek Legal Crapola

Lawyers are my friends and they bite.
2004-02-06

Unfortunately, I have had run-ins with people putting my animations on their websites. I have only had to resort to legal action once, and all other times people have been cooperative. You may of course use these animations privately any way you wish, but I reserve the right to publicly display my work, whether it be internet, tv, exhibitions, etc.

I don't mind also, if you are giving a talk to a small group or lecture, advocating Linux or open source, etc. if you use my animations. I do ask that you please email me first.

Happy Surfing!

I. The animations here on ubergeek.tv are not for sale or distribution. You are more than welcome to link to these animations but you may not put them on your site or claim authorship. Any request to resell, modify or use these animations will be politely declined.

II. You hereby sell your soul to Ubergeek.tv. We can at any time terminate your life or the life of any dependents(including pets) through the use of voodoo dolls or old age.

III. We hereby revoke Paragraph II of these 'Terms of Use' as a false statement with humorous intent. Any terms within Paragraph II are considered null and void.

IV. Addendum: The following paragraphs are legacy code from when I had a chat server running. It may come back in another form, so I'll just leave it in here for now.

Don't do bad stuff on this site. This paragraph is being more serious now. To clarify on 'bad' the following statements contain things that are 'bad', including but not limited to: sending people viruses, mail bombing, chat bombing, using bots, mining the site for email addresses, posting pictures of naked people, posting pictures of me naked, hacking the server, attempting to hack the server, or being a jerk.

V. Ubergeek's interaction is for entertainment and fun. This is not a place to swap files. Using Ubergeek for peer-to-peer file swapping, even though it would be cool, is strictly prohibited. There's lots of better places to go do that kind of stuff.

VI. Ubergeek uses token-based authentication for passwords, but everything else is sent completely unencrypted. Any 16 year old with brain damage can listen in on what's going on. In addition, any games played include the risk of possible tampering. You do not hold Ubergeek liable for any damage or loss resulting from information sent or recieved from Ubergeek.

Attempts are and will always be made to keep all information secure, and is a primary concern. We do take this very seriously.

VI. The terms of this agreement may change at any time without notification. I know that sucks, but would you rather me email you whenever these terms change? Instead you may check periodically the Terms of Use, which will be available as a link from the main page.
